Leadership Greater Madison (LGM)

Leadership Greater Madison Update - April 2008

In December 2007, GMCC announced that the Leadership Greater Madison (LGM) program was going to be undergoing some programmatic changes to grow and refine the project to better meet the changing economic and social needs of our community.

With the belief that more can be done to elevate LGM’s profile and the contributions LGM graduates provide to the community, GMCC formed a partnership with Wood Communications Group (WCG) to assess growth opportunities to enhance the program and, simultaneously, for aligning it more closely with Civitas, another civic leadership development program coordinated by GMCC and WCG.

The research component of the transition process will soon begin and will include assessment and evaluation of the program and outcomes including a series of focus groups and listening sessions. While it is anticipated that some of the current elements of LGM may evolve, it will remain a nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational program of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

In the fifteen years since the GMCC launched LGM to grow and encourage civic leadership, over 500 emerging leaders have completed their coursework and are giving back to the community in various capacities. We are confident that number can continue to rise, the impact LGM has on the community can continue to increase and the difference the program makes on the public and private sector can continue to expand if we take the steps necessary to change with the changing times.

Due to these pending changes, the LGM application process for the 2008/2009 LGM class is being temporarily postponed. Individuals or organizations interested in being contacted when the application process is opened are encouraged to contact LGM coordinator, Connie Shomberg at 259-0757 or connie.shomberg@wcgpr.com.
